It is with great sadness, that I announce the final chapter of "Last Chance Miniatures".  I will no longer be raising Miniature Horses, and have only 3 horses left.  If you feel you may be interested in purchasing my remaining horses,  please be sure to check out the mares and gelding pages for more details, photos, and pedigrees on each.   Our horses are very friendly, easy to catch, halter and handle anywhere, and are current on vaccinations, deworming, and hoof trims.

CLICK ON EACH OF THE PHOTOS BELOW TO VIEW LARGER VERSION!!

"Dawn" (MARE shown above left), silver bay roan sabino BTU granddaughter.  Young maiden mare, ready for your stallion.
"Colors" (MARE shown above center), sorrel sabino pinto mare.  Proven producer of beautiful foals!
"Rocky" (GELDING shown above right), buckskin BTU son.  Would make an AWESOME SHOW GELDING!!!!

I would prefer they all go together, but I would be willing to sell separately under certain circumstances.  The circumstances of such a sale, would be that I will offer any of them for $1500 each.  Buy one, or buy 2 for $1500 each, and receive the third one at no additional price!  If 2 are sold though, the third MUST go with the other two, as I do not want to have one lonely Miniature Horse remaining.  They are herd animals and need companions, so I will not sell 2 and not include the last one.

Little Miss Frank
Foaled: August, 1999

Sire: Dobbs Mack K    Dam: Eb's Frankie
RHBAA #992735

Misty came to us as a real "been there, done that" horse.  She is is broke to ride and drive, although we have not driven her at all. We were told she has done extensive war re-enactments, been hunted from, packed game out on, is traffic safe, and has LOADS, and LOADS of trail miles, will ride bareback, saddle, or sidesaddle. She stands great for farrier. She is current on farrier, deworming and vaccinations.

Although she tossed her head a lot with the bit, we have ridden her with just a barn halter with a lead rope as reins (yes, even out on the trails), a bitless bridle, and now are using a simple "sidepull bridle" for her when we go out for a ride. She is easy to control, even without a bit in her mouth.

If you have any questions, or would like to come and meet/try Misty out, please email me at mona@lastchanceminiatures.com  or by calling me at 807-488-5705.

More photos and pedigree of Misty can be seen on her individual webpage.

"Romey" - Rides/Drives -
$4250

TRAIL'S BIBI ROMEY (Tennessee Walking Horse)
15.2hh Black Pinto Mare
Rides and Drives
Foaled: March 10, 1998
.
TWHBEA - 982153   /   NSSHA - 9812186
Sire:
Generator's Legacy    Dam: Jacob's Electra

SHE'S HERE!!  THANK YOU ANGELA JONES of THUNDER CREEK FARM IN TENNESSEE FOR SELLING US THIS BEAUTIFUL MARE!!

PLEASE NOTE:  Romey arrived VERY thin, with ribs showing, not sure if from the trip, or prior to making the trip.  The photos above, were taken on the day of her arrival (after a 3 day trip from Tennessee to Minnesota), and shortly thereafter, up to and including 2 weeks after arrival.

I have also found out that Romey has been broke to drive in the past, but doubt she has had any experience with that since she left her breeders farm.

The ad that I purchased Romey from stated that she has been exposed/desensitized to and/or is trained in/for, and/or used these descriptive terms in the the following list: (I have marked in RED, from the list below, what we have personally found to be true and/or have experienced with her)

  • good ground manners
  • bathes
  • clips
  • easy to halter
  • leads quietly
  • readily lifts her feet/stands well for farrier
  • stands perfectly still to mount/dismount
  • walks on a loose rein (but also prefers to be "collected" at times) or no rein
  • gaits on a loose rein
  • lopes nicely
  • has a good whoa
  • backs up nicely (does back, but needs work)
  • goes out alone (with a confident, experienced rider)
  • crosses water
  • traffic safe for riding
  • Has been exposed to deer, turkeys, ATVs, creeks and water, dogs and farm animals, bikes, motorcycles, joggers, traffic, trucks, plastic bags, children at play, cows, and was also in the ad that there really wasn't much she wouldn't do for you if asked
  • excellent confidence building horse (we personally found this to be totally untrue...she is NOT a horse for a timid/inexperienced rider!)
  • can ride bareback and in a halter (have not tried this at all)
  • kneel on her back and monkey around while in the saddle (have not tried this at all)
  • even stand on her (have not tried this at all)
  • extremely easy to ride (she tests her rider, but if the rider insists she listens, she is fine)
  • both children as well as adults have ridden her
  • good learning horse, she will teach you! (not true in my personal opinion/evaluation)
  • super fun with a lope that is like a carrousel horse to ride
  • also stated that she is suitable for any level rider from beginner riders and kids on up (again, totally not true from what we have seen/experienced.  She needs an experienced, confident rider)
  • great trail partner and wonderful companion

All this said however, in my reselling, I cannot verify all of this, as we have not done all of this with her.  We have done most, but not all.   We found that with us, she "fussed" some, when asked to go out alone and when separated from the other horses, (she would however, go out with a more experienced, confident rider without much fuss) therefore, I feel she would do best with someone a little more advanced in their riding skills than us beginners.

Romey was set with a new pair of front shoes on August 1, 2010 so should be all set for several more weeks. She stood very well for the farrier for both the trimming and (hot) shoeing.

If you have any questions, or would like to come and meet/try Misty out,
please email me at mona@lastchanceminiatures.com  or by calling me at 807-488-5705.

More photos and pedigree of Romey can be seen on her individual webpage.

UPDATE - AUGUST 16, 2010.  OK, here's the "lowdown".  It is not my intention to scare potential buyers off, but I do want to be TOTALLY HONEST about the horse I am selling/representing, so as to make sure no one gets hurt.  Speaking from experience, I have been learning first hand that there are MANY people out there selling horses touted as being "beginner safe" or "confidence builder" type horses, that truly are not suited for beginners at all!!  Such a mix, is just an accident waiting to happen.

I had a very experienced, confident rider ride Romey today.  She was evaluated to in fact have a couple quirks/issues, just as I had originally suspected, and that she will need work on.  She is herd/buddy sour and does not like leaving her pasture mate behind.  She would call out to her, and also would "test her rider" trying to turn around and have her own way.  The rider had no problem with making her continue in the direction that she wanted her to go, and Romey did settle down, but for a timid, inexperienced rider, this most likely would prove to be a problem.

She also seems to be quite "one sided". She would move in the round pen (under saddle anyway) counter-clockwise very easily, but when asked to move in a clockwise direction, she would begin to "sidepass", trying to go the direction that she wanted to.

Romey and her rider, along with myself and "Cheyenne", went for a nice long ride and Romey was generally easy to handle and well behaved, and quite accepting of everything we encountered, which was all new to her since arriving her, as she has never left the yard before today.

We can now also verify that she IS traffic safe.  She is also easy to catch, halter, bridle, saddle, and stands well for mounting and dismounting. She has a good "whoa" as well.

If/when sold, her new owner will need to work with her on leaving the farm without a buddy, as well as getting her to move in a clockwise direction. Other than those couple of issues, I feel she would make an AWESOME trail mount!!

UPDATE - AUGUST 23, 2010.  Jo took Romey for her second ride, and both of them were much more relaxed, and Romey much more willing, and went as asked with much less "testing" than the previous week.  It's looking like she just needs to know who's in charge, and will quite easily accept that.

Videos of Romey showing both her good as well as bad points, can be seen HERE! (type "Romey" into the search box to the right of the video screen) This way, you'll see her at her worst, so if you can handle that, you can handle Romey...if not, you need to find something less intimidating.  I have also uploaded MANY new videos of her trail riding, and gaiting on the road, and riding in a small gravel pit!
